Erin has come to "stay"

Please welcome the canine member of our family, Erin.  This development in our family life has been a real treat (pun intended.)  There is something about the companionship of this dog that I especially like.  It has been about 5 years since our last pet, and we needed one again.

She sure is a dog!  Loves to roll in the grass, loves to chase balls, loves to sprint out the back door and check for squirrels or cats on the back fence, loves to give dog kisses, loves to take walks.

She is one happy "Cowgirl," which is her nickname. The kids came up with it after reading about a pet cat named "Cow" in a children's magazine.

Switching gears, Nathan spent some time stringing together these tree branches that hang right over a small picnic table on the deck.  He has quite the imagination for projects like this.

Mark's been pushing this monster truck around a lot in the backyard dirt, when he's not running with the dog.

Both of the children love her very much already.  They have different ways of expressing it, which is sweet to watch.  They are both very helpful with feeding her and training her, and generally keeping her company.

And I love her, too!  Never thought I was much of a "dog person" growing up, but I have a special place in my heart just for this pup.  She's a good creature of our God and King. It's good to have a pet to care for and enjoy as a family.  It's not perfect, of course, but it is good.
