A Trip Down Memory Lane

We took the boys to the mountains this weekend, to visit Nanny and PopPop during their volunteer service time at R*dgecrest.  It is the place where Greg and I met way back in 1996, when I had just finished my freshman year of college and Greg had just graduated from high school.  We had summer jobs in food service and preschool, and got to know each other during our off-hours.

Returning to the conference center is always sentimental for me.  The sights, sounds and smells transport me to the summers of my college years.  Sixteen years later, there have been some changes to the campus, but by and large it still feels like my summer-home-away-from-home.

We made a lot of new memories this weekend with the children.  Funny, I can still vividly remember some of the children I took care of during those summers on staff, and now I have two of my very own.  I am so thankful that we can return to this place that holds so many of our first memories together.

I had no idea it has been so long since my last post!  We've had some good summer fun over the past few weeks.  A lot of it has been in the beautiful outdoors.

This week the boys are visiting grandparents, and I have been left to my own devices for a few days.  Turns out, I don't really love shopping by myself as much as I might claim to!  It has been nice to catch my breath and do things on my own timetable, but I miss the laughter and busyness of the house when it's full of boys.

A friend of mine lost her son one year ago on Father's Day, and that anniversary has me thinking about a lot of things.  It is so incredibly precious to give birth to a child, let alone two children.  Having two little souls to love, know, enjoy, train and love forever more is the biggest blessing in my entire life.  I am going to hug them so tight when they get home they just might pop this time!
