A Trip Down Memory Lane

We took the boys to the mountains this weekend, to visit Nanny and PopPop during their volunteer service time at R*dgecrest.  It is the place where Greg and I met way back in 1996, when I had just finished my freshman year of college and Greg had just graduated from high school.  We had summer jobs in food service and preschool, and got to know each other during our off-hours.

Returning to the conference center is always sentimental for me.  The sights, sounds and smells transport me to the summers of my college years.  Sixteen years later, there have been some changes to the campus, but by and large it still feels like my summer-home-away-from-home.

We made a lot of new memories this weekend with the children.  Funny, I can still vividly remember some of the children I took care of during those summers on staff, and now I have two of my very own.  I am so thankful that we can return to this place that holds so many of our first memories together.
