My natural bent

I am most relaxed when the kids are doing art and music, or when I'm reading to them. It makes me happy when they are creating. Even if it's messy, it is always worth it to see their faces and hear them talk about what they are doing.

This afternoon, we had rotating play-doh, painting and music centers. When we started out, Mark wanted to play with play-doh and Nathan painted. Mark squished away happily while Nathan painted a picture about a zebra lost in the woods. After a bit, Nathan wanted to play the piano.

He told me it was the "music center," and he provided background music for Mark's turn to paint.

Mark painted a giraffe lost in the woods, inspired by Nathan's work.

I tackled my laundry pile while the artists were busy. A little later, the boys got out pots and pans, and some wild drumming began.

That's what Greg walked into when he came home early from work. Now, all is calm again, and that is good with me! A frozen lasagna is baking in the oven and I am glad I was able to avoid grocery shopping for yet another day.
